New Orleans is a city that is best defined by the term “mixed
emotions.” Stand in a street in any part of town, and it’s impossible
not to feel overwhelmed by the sights and sounds. It is a living and
breathing example of what it means to carry on despite

Persevere Disaster Relief is a Massachusetts based nonprofit
organization committed to assisting communities in the wake of extensive
disaster. Through implementing various initiatives and projects that
address changing and unmet needs, Persevere aims to both restore a
sense of normalcy and improve the quality of life in the areas it serves.
Those affected by disaster are faced with a seemingly insurmountable
and overwhelming task of picking up the pieces and rebuilding. The focus
of Persevere is to provide small solutions for each community member it
comes into contact with, and in turn, give them hope for the future and a
foundation to help them persevere.

The CAT Relief Database is a revolutionary resource utilized by
volunteers, donors, non-profits, government agencies, survivors and
beyond to coordinate the sharing and distribution of supplies, resources,
advocacy, shelter. It's a great way for 'ground zero' volunteers to continue
to be in service if you want to make a difference when you get home. If
your interested in volunteering please contact me. I'd also be more than
happy to assist anyone who'd like to make availability/needs matches or to
enter their facility, project or mission on the dbase.
Thanks for being in service! Leslie

www.ProjectKatrinaVolunteers.net is working to gather stories of individuals or
groups who have traveled to the Gulf Coast in the last two years to help rebuild in the
aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina, which made landfall on August 29,
2005, has since been ranked the costliest hurricane in US History, as well as the
third strongest hurricane to make landfall in the United States. Since the hurricane,
over 500,000 volunteers have traveled to the devastated region to spend their vacation
time assisting the rebuilding efforts. However, the volunteer efforts in the Gulf Coast
in the last two years are diminishing, but they are needed for another 5-10 years. The
devastation of Katrina has been disappearing from the press, and therefore people
think that the Gulf Coast is rebuilt, up, and running. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
And more volunteers are needed.
www.TravelTelevision.org and www.ProjectKatrinaVolunteers.net are two websites
that will be launched on August 29, 2007, the second anniversary of the hurricane. On
ProjectKatrinaVolunteers.net, people who have spent time volunteering in the Gulf
Coast can share their stories. We will also be premiering a television series which
shares the stories of some of these dedicated volunteers. We will be on television in
most of the Washington, DC area, as well as several other cities across the country.
All the episodes can also be viewed online at www.TravelTelevision.org .
